Crimean peninsula is situated in the south of Ukraine between longitudes 33-37° East, latitudes 44-46° North. Crimean peninsula is shaped as an irregular quadrangle with Tarhankutsky peninsula in the West and Kerchensky peninsula in the East. Crimea is washed by the waters of Black and Azov Seas. The outmost northern point of Crimea is located on Perekopsky isthmus, the utmost southern point – on Cape Sarych, the outmost western point – Cape Kara Mrun on Tarhankut, the utmost eastern point – Cape Fonar on Cerchensky peninsula. The distance between the utmost northern point and the utmost southern point is 200 kilometers, between the utmost western point and the utmost eastern point – 325 kilometers. Total length of land and sea borders is more than 2500 kilometers. 

Some people think that Crimea island resembles a flying bird in shape; others believe it looks like a bunch of grapes. Some see it shaped as a heart. 
Crimean nature is unique. On quite a small territory (the area of Crimea is 26,2 square kilometers) there are various landscapes, quite different from one another. Here you can find boundless steppes, parched hills of Coctebelle, exotic flora of the Southern Coast, admirable beauty of Crimean Mountains, wildness of volcanic Karadag Mountains and underground world of karst caves. The value of Crimean nature is recognized by the state government. On the territory of Crimea there are 160 reserves. Their area constitutes about 5,8 % of the total area of Crimea. More than 50% of Crimean reserves are known all over the world. 

Crimea region is a home for many different nations: Cimmerian and Skythian warriors, skilled Greek craftsmen, enterprising Genoese, Tatar nomads. Their cultures and beliefs intertwined, enriching one another. Many cultural and historical monuments preserved since ancient times, as well as places that became sacred for representatives of different religions. 

On the territory of Crimea penninsula there are many hotels, villas, boarding houses, cottages which can be by right considered architectural masterpieces of 19-21 centuries.
