You will have a chance to walk along all-year-round-beautiful Primorskiy Boulevard where the City Council, Count Vorontsov Palace with colonnade and Duke Richellieu Monument are situated. Your eye will be pleased with a grand panorama of the Marine passenger terminal, the Port and the sea. Here we will acquaint you with the famous Potyomkin stairs. On our excursion bus you will ride through the old districts and streets of our city. 
It is best to start your acquaintance with Odessa from Primorskiy Boulevard. 

Short in length, only half a kilometer, Primorskiy Boulevard, just like an open air museum, offers you its exhibits. Whatever cozy nook you choose to visit, you are sure to meet an exciting past and with true art. At night the boulevard turns into a fairy-tale. Every tree lights with thousands of small lamps that will gladden anyone walking along the boulevard in the evening. In the centre of Primrskiy Boulevard ensemble, there is a square formed by two semicircular buildings. The main entrance to Primorskiy Boulevard from the sea is Potyomkin Stairs. The steps lead the guests of our city from to Primorskiy Boulevard. On the crossing of Primrskiy Boulevard and Potyomkin Stairs there is a Duke Richellieu Monument (architect – I. Martos). Facing the sea, the Duke invites the guests of the city to ascend Primorskiy Boulevard.  

The steps of Potyomkin Stairs lead the guests of the city from Primorskiy Boulevard to Marine passenger terminal. The Marine passenger terminal was built in 1968 according to the project developed by architects V. Golovin and V. Kremlyakov. Later it underwent huge changes. The building of the terminal is totally reconstructed. Before the terminal there is a sculpture by E. Neizvestniy “Golden Child”, the gift by the world-famous sculptor to the city. In the end of the berth there is St. Nicholas Church, new yacht-club. In 2001 new many-storied hotel “Odessa” was built near the Marine passenger terminal. In the southern part of Primorskiy Boulevard there is the City Counsil, A.S. Pushkin monument, “Londonskaya” hotel. Near “Londonskaya” hotel there is Sailor Palace. In front of the City Council on a pedestal there is a 250-pood cast-iron cannon with a muzzle aimed at the sea. It is the reminder of events of The Crimean War in 1853-1856.

In the north the boulevard sets against Vorontsov Palace. The building is constructed in 1824-1827 by the project of F. Boffo. More than fifty buildings were created in Odessa by F. Boffo, but it was Vorontsovskiy Palace that brought him great fame. Primorskiy Boulevard is connected with Art Boulevard with a foot-bridge (architect R. Vladimirskaya), built in 1969. From here a great panorama of Odessa port can be seen. Right across the bridge on a small square there is “an old Odessa nook”. Some interesting ancient relics are gathered here. An original pavilion, bent little bridge with beautiful railing, sculptural decorations, cast-iron gryphon and the well built in 1858. We get to Gogol Street. It is an old, small street that has original architecture. Here you can met elements of Roman and Gothic architecture, Renaissance, Classicism.

You should pay attention to the City Garden. The age of the City Garden is the same as the age of the city itself. The garden was founded in XVIII by one of the founders of Odessa – Iosif Deribas. Now the City Garden is totally reconstructed and reequipped, in the centre there is a beautiful fountain with lights and musical accompaniment. For quite some time the City Garden was the only rest place for the townsmen. In the centre there is a pavilion. From the side of Deribasovskaya there are sculptures of lion and lioness, made by the sculptor A. Sayn. Deribasovskaya Street is the favorite street of Odessa townsmen. Many unforgettable pages of history are connected with this street.

We suggest finishing our excursion with a grand impression that is made by the Opera and Ballet Theatre. Its facades are decorated with loggias, balconies, allegoric sculptural compositions that symbolize all kinds of arts. The entrance hall, parade stairs, tiered foyers are abundantly decorated with sculptures, gilding and bright ornamental patterns. Horseshoe-shaped hall has more than one thousand and a half seats. This is a truly outstanding building that decorates our city since 1887.
